(Meet the athletes day at the Piazza Saturday 15th May from 10.00a.m – 2.00p.m.)
As a lead up to Special Olympics Gibraltar’s 25th Anniversary Summer Games we will be holding an awareness day at the Piazza, Main Street on Saturday May15th between 10.00am and 2pm. It is called Meet the Athletes so please come along, chat with our athletes and coaches, learn about their endeavours in their favourite sports, what they are training for next, because they never stand still. Learn how being part of Special Olympics changes lives and brings people together, give yourself a chance to become a fan of this movement which has grown from participation in two sports at world games, to six at summer games and two at winter sports.
Gibraltar is part of this global movement operating 30,000 events annually for nearly three million persons with intellectual disabilities in more than 180 countries. It offers everyone the chance to play, the chance to compete and the chance to grow.
Remember, Saturday May 15th, look forward to chatting with you.
As an added dimension to our Meet the Athletes awareness day they will parade up Main Street from Casemates Square at 10.30am. They will be led by the Gibraltar Sea Scouts Pipe Band to the Piazza where they will be greeted by HW the Mayor.
We are all excited and looking forward to this, so, see you there!
